Most paint suppliers will provide a shop with a wealth of technical and health and safety information related to their products. Since most paint products fall under WHMIS regulations, they must also provide Material Safety Data Sheets for their products to ensure that shop employees handle, store, use, and dispose of their products safely.

Paint suppliers maintain on line web sites where users of their products can get information fast and effectively. You may have to register with the supplier's web site to gain access to this information. Talk to your paint rep about this service. He or she can probably demonstrate the benefits of using on line sources of information.

Many suppliers of paint and coating products are members of the Canadian Paint and Coatings Association. The CPCA's web site includes Codes of Good Practice that can help you understand how safe environmental practices can result in a cleaner, more productive shop. See:
